Ski area Zillertal Arena

With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 542 kilometres of piste (incl. ski routes and snow parks) in Hochfügen, at Spieljoch, in the Hochzillertal, the Zillertal Arena (Zell, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Wald, Krimml and Gerlosstein), at the Penken, at the Ahorn, at the Horberg, in the "Ski and Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000" (Finkenberg, Eggalm, Rastkogl, Hintertux Glacier) and at the Wildkogel-Arena at Bramberg. The ski areas are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle.

Königsleiten offers you direct access to the Zillertal Arena, which is connected to Zell am Ziller, and thus to 147 km of perfectly groomed slopes. Here, in the most extensive ski area of the Zillertal, 52 lifts transport you quickly and comfortably up to 2,500 metres. From there you have the choice between many varied downhill runs such as the black run no. 36 in the Krummbachtal. The longest downhill run, the 10.4 km long valley run, leads from "Stoanmandl" via "Ebenfeld" to the "Isskogl" valley station.

A true highlight of the region is the "Hot Zone Snowpark" in Gerlos. The newly designed park leaves hardly a wish unfulfilled on 30,000 m². Mega halfpipe (100 m long), Easy Line for beginners, Pro Line for experts and Kicker Line for the very brave convince all along the line, as do the sound system, the webcam and the new chillarea. The Zillertal Arena also offers numerous other special features, including 3 different "SkiMovie tracks". Here, your own performance is first recorded on video and is later available for free download. Children's slopes as well as a ski school and a ski kindergarten with a special children's programme ensure exciting entertainment for the little ones too.

Accompanying the Isskogelbahn, the new Dorfbahn from Gerlos now also leads into the heart of the Zillertal Arena. The new 10-person gondola lift built for the 2016/17 season has a mighty valley station with sports shop, ski rental and ski depot as well as over 200 new parking spaces. Since the 2018/19 season, a new 6-seater high-speed chairlift "Larmach" in Königsleiten offers heated seats and a weather protection bonnet.

As another highlight in the Zillertal, we recommend a trip to the Hintertux Glacier, which is one of the best glaciers in the Alps due to its size and challenging slopes.

Après ski Königsleiten

For those of you who are looking for après ski, you're definitely right at home in the Zillertal Arena, what with its numerous huts and après ski bars, all of which invite you in any time of day to start off, keep up, or finish off your day just right. Start off traditionally in the rustic "Sportkeller", where plenty of socialising is to be had along with just as much fun. In the "Hannes' Alm," which can be found at the valley station of the Sonnwend lift, you'll experience unforgettable après ski and find yourself quickly partying the night away. A quieter, cosier side of après ski can be found at the "Schatzi Alm Bar" or in the "Musik Cafe Castello".

The toboggan run in Königsleiten offers you more than 950 m of track an exciting time for both little and big winter sports fans. You also have the chance to view and take in Königsleiten and its gorgeous surroundings via horse-drawn sledge or on the horses themselves.

Those looking for a more sporting adventure will find ice climbing available to try at the Untersulzbach waterfall. Furthermore, the national park is world renowned for its ski tour-goers and freeriders. A highly recommended excursion can be taken to the Krimml waterfalls, of which with their 380 m height are the highest waterfalls in Europe. The approx. 13 km distant Krimml should certainly be scheduled into your holiday in order to view these famous, unique natural wonders embedded among gorgeous, wintry surroundings.

Snowpark: Action-Park Kreuzwiese, Snowpark Gerlos, Funpark Hochkrimml Königsleiten

In the Zillertal Arena, there are quite a few possibilities for freestylers to creatively let off steam. The Snowpark in Gerlos lies at an altitude of 2,020 m and spreads itself out over an area of 30,000 m² between the Vorkogel lift and the Ebenfeld Express.

Here, beginners and pros alike will find just what they're looking for. Beginners can work on their skills along the beginner line with its easy, compact set up. The medium line is located in the middle of the park and provides more than enough challenges. On the pro line, experts of all sorts can run riot and definitely bank enough air time.

What's especially great in the Snowpark in Gerlos is the kids line, along which the entire family can practice their freestyle skills. Those who would like to wind down after a long day can head over to the new "Chillarea" with its excellent sound system and watch other people at work.

If it's more action you're after, changing scenes to the Zilleral Arena. Aside from the Snowpark in Gerlos, an additional 100 m long and 18 m wide half pipe awaits you near the Fußalm Express along with the "Action-Park Kreuzwiese" in Zell, of which has a few highlights of its own to offer. It's here where adrenaline junkies will get their money's worth with the snake run, bag jump, "BMW xDrive Cup SkiMovie" run and the "BMW xDrive Speed Check" run

The Hochkrimml funpark, located directly under the Filzstein lift, offers incredible conditions for beginners and children, those of whom prefer to better their skills.
