Information on cross-country skiing

150 km Cross-country trails (in km):

Enthusiasts for cross-country skiing will definitely get their money's worth in the Bavarian Forest. The Bodenmais Active Centre is one of the cross-country ski areas with the highest reliability for snow in Germany. Apart from Bodenmais Active Centre at Bretterschachten and the DSV nordic activ cross-country ski centre in Sankt Englmar, there are 14 further cross-country ski areas which are part of the large cross-country ski connection in the Bavarian Forest, among them e.g. Dreiburgenland, Bayerisch Eisenstein or the ski hiking centre Zwieslerwaldhaus. A well-developed bus network ensures the various areas' accessibility. In total, there are more than 2,000 km perfectly prepared circuit courses and trails. Some trails lead over the border to the Czech part of the woody mountain, the Bohemian Forest.

The Bodenmais and Anbruck trail network alone offers 114 km for classic style and approx. 110 km for skating style, all of which are perfectly prepared. A very appealing trail can be found in the area of Neureichenau on the 29 km Adalbert-Stifter-Loipe, which leads along a former railway line. Several flood-lit trails are also available.
