Ski area Watles - Mals

With the "Zwei Länder Skiarena" ski pass, you have access to a total of approx. 150 kilometres of pistes, approx. 15 km of ski routes and 37 lifts in 3 ski areas: Nauders am Reschenpass, Schöneben-Haideralm and Watles.

The Watles ski area is one of 15 ski areas in the Ortler Ski Arena and is one of the most popular ski areas in the Vinschgau Valley. With its 10 km, it is manageable for families and ideal for pleasure skiers of all ages. They all benefit here from the mild climate, the wide slopes with snowmaking facilities and enjoy the panoramic view of the peaks of the Sesvenna Group in the border triangle between Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The "Prämajur" and "Watles" chairlifts take you up the slopes, with the latter also taking sledging fans to the popular illuminated night toboggan run. Children are expertly looked after in the Bubo Kinderpark ski kindergarten. Two magic carpets, a ski carousel, a snow igloo, various play equipment and a children's restaurant await you here.

A highlight for speed skiers is the skicross course, where the approx. 1 km long route takes you at breakneck speed over waves, through steep face curves and into fast changes of direction. Experienced deep-snow fans are also offered a wonderful red route of 4.5 km in length with the "Sautal" freeride descent. The 5 km downhill run finally takes you back to the valley station in the village.

Schluderns is also centrally located between several ski areas, so that a comprehensive 3-country ski safari can be undertaken from here. Two large buses and two minibuses take you on two routes to the nearest ski areas: After only about 15 minutes you are at the start of the "blue SkiSafari tour". This gourmet tour takes you to the nearest ski areas, where you will discover Sulden am Ortler, Trafoi, Watles, the Haider Alm, Schöneben and Nauders. After about 1 hour by coach, you will arrive at the start of the "red SkiSafari tour". This features large and exciting ski areas, such as the shopping paradise Livigno, Scuol, Samnaun-Ischgl, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and the Schnals Valley. At your destination of choice, simply get off and enjoy the day on the slopes.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Sluderno

In a small and idyllic mountain village like Sluderno, a day in vacation comes to a quiet end. Make sure to taste local wines and spoil yourself with regional specialities. Tobogganing, snowshoe hiking and horse-drawn carriage rides are active ways to explore the surrounding nature of Sluderno. Small hikes alongside the Waale, the old irrigation channels in the region, are also recommendable: for example, they lead over Sonnenberg and past the well-known Coira Castle. The "Sonnensteig" themed path leads through the surrounding villages Burgusio, Watles Venosta, Tarces and Spondigna.

Fans of rocks that don't want to hold still during the winter will enjoy the climbing hall in Sluderno which is not dependant on the weather. When it's cold enough, a natural ice rink is the perfect place for families to go ice skating. With lake Resia approx. 21 km north of Sluderno you will find a top spot in the ice skating scene. Here you can cover a distance of approx. 6 km on on ice.

For tobogganing you visit the neighbouring village of Malles Venosta, which is only a few kilometres from Sluderno. Here you can look forward to a night toboggan run with a length of more than 4 km that you can reach with the Watles lift. The "SportWell Mals", a modern sports centre in Watles Venosta, offer numerous activities such as swimming, fitness training, saunas, tennis or skittles.

Snowpark: Snowpark Watles Sluderno

Only one thing comes to mind about the Watles Snowpark: small but mighty! A total of 13 obstacles on eight tables await you on a length of 650 m, including four boxes, four kickers, two rails and a wallride. The obstacles are polished by professionals every day so that the park is always in top shape. After the jump session, people meet in the igloo right next door to relax with music and drinks - or even move on to après-ski.
