Ski holidays Monguelfo-Tesido – Relaxing winter holiday surrounded by dreamy nature
Monguelfo-Tesido
The Italian municipality of Monguelfo-Tesido (German: "Welsberg-Taisten") is located in the east of South Tyrol in the province of Bolzano. The municipality extends over just under 50 km² of the Pustertal Valley, which runs in an east-west direction, and lies at the entrance to the Valle di Casies, which branches off here. Around 2,900 inhabitants live in the traditionally-shaped villages, surrounded by fairytale fir forests. Monguelfo-Tesido is a true holiday paradise for nature lovers and connoisseurs, but hiking holidaymakers and winter sports fans will also get their money's worth thanks to numerous hiking trails and the nearby Plan de Corones ski area (120 kilometres of pistes). The majority of the municipality lies between just under 1,100 m and 1,300 m, while scattered cottages can be found at altitudes of up to around 2,700 m. The community centre of Monguelfo lies at around 1,100 m, has about 1,500 inhabitants and is considered the main town of the community. Here, perched on steep cliffs, is the town's landmark: Welsperg Castle (Italian: "castello di Monguelfo"). The second main village of the municipality is Tesido, which lies at an altitude of 1,200 m and is exposed to the sun. Numerous hiking trails start here through surrounding meadows and forests with breathtaking views of the Dolomites.
Plan de Corones
At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 121 kilometres of piste, approx. 31 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski area is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld".Travel Monguelfo-Tesido
