Ski area Pfelders

It is just under 10 kilometres from Moos in Passeier to the Pfelders ski area. Nestled between the peaks of the Ötztal and Sarntal Alps, skiers and snowboarders can relax and enjoy the South Tyrolean sun here. 18 kilometres of pistes and four lifts, of which the Karjochbahn takes you up to an altitude of 2,502 m, are available in the ski area. With 9 km of red and 4 km of black pistes, Pfelders is mainly a terrain for advanced skiers and experts who are looking for a challenging but uncrowded piste experience away from the region's large ski areas.

At the valley station, which can also be reached by post bus from Moos, there are two magic carpets and a drag lift at an altitude of 1,601 metres, providing the perfect connection to the 5 kilometres of blue pistes in the Pfelders ski area. On the gentle slopes, primarily children and beginners can make their first turns on skis in the snow safely and stress-free. There are also some cosy mountain huts in the immediate vicinity of the slopes, where traditional South Tyrolean specialities are served. The sun terraces of the mountain restaurants are the perfect place to recharge your batteries for the rest of a long day's skiing in front of the impressive mountain panorama of the surrounding peaks such as the Hochwilde (3,480 m) and the Hochfirst (3,403 m).

If you want to explore even more kilometres of slopes outside of Pfelders, you can head to the Merano 2000 ski area, 30 km from Moos in Passeier. There, 40 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes await and winter sports enthusiasts don't necessarily have to use their car to get there, as the Postbus also runs here.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Night skiing Moos in Passeier

In the Pfelders ski area, winter sports enthusiasts can also ski after dark in winter. During the season, the Gampen lift is open every Thursday between 20:00 and 22:00. This means that young and old can let off steam on a 600 metre long blue piste under floodlights while skiing at night.

Après ski Moos in Passeier

The classic après-ski with drinks and music in Moos in Passeier mainly takes place in the Pfelders ski area. There are several rustic mountain huts and lodges here where you can round off a long day of skiing in a great atmosphere. The first port of call here is the "Pisten Pub" snack bar just above the Grünbodenexpress valley station. The Lazins Alm and the Grünbodenhütte with its own umbrella bar also await you in the ski area. In the village itself, on the other hand, you will find charming inns such as the Mooserwirt or the Gasthof Bad Sand, where you can end the evening in a cosy atmosphere with hearty delicacies and a glass or two of wine or beer.

The winter fun in Moos in Passeier and in the Pfelders ski area doesn't end off the slopes. The 3.5 km long Grünboden toboggan run takes you down into the valley at breakneck speed. Things are a little quieter when ice skating in the village or snowshoeing through the magnificent mountain landscape of Merano and Environs.

The spa town of Merano/Meran (approx. 30 km away) is also worth a day trip from Moos in Passeier. The highlight of the Merano/Meran region's namesake town is the Merano/Meran thermal spa. A true spa oasis in an ultra-modern building made of steel, glass and wood, not just for winter sports enthusiasts. In addition to 13 indoor pools, the only thermal spa in South Tyrol also offers a large sauna and spa area.

Snowpark: Meran 2000 Moos in Passeier

Unfortunately, the Pfelders ski area does not have its own snow park. However, the next hotspot for freestyle fans is not far away - just 30 kilometres to be precise: Because the Merano 2000 ski area above the famous South Tyrolean spa town also has a snow park of the same name to offer. With the Easy Line in the upper section and the Medium Line in the lower section, the area offers the right terrain for all ability levels. There are jumps, slides and tables everywhere, where freestylers can show off their best tricks in the "Merano 2000" snow park. For advanced riders, there are also two kickers that allow particularly long jumps. From here, it's just a few steps to the chill-out zone, where you can relax or chat to other freestylers about the latest trends. The snow park is located on the St. Oswald piste right next to the Piffing chairlift.
