Ski holidays Moos in Passeier - A winter jewel in the Merano region!
Moos in Passeier
Moos in Passeier is a picturesque South Tyrolean village at an altitude of 1,007 metres, just a few kilometres from the Austrian border. In the heart of the Merano region lies a real gem for winter sports enthusiasts and culture lovers. The village, which is almost 800 years old and has around 2,100 inhabitants, is mainly characterised by its familiar and cosy atmosphere. Otherwise, the Stubai Alps offer an impressive mountain backdrop around Moos, which also fascinates with its deep-rooted history.During the Napoleonic Wars, the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer led the resistance against the Bavarian and French troops from here in 1809. The "MuseumPasseier", which is dedicated to Hofer, documents all the background for visitors today. In Moos in Passeier, St Martin's Church from the 14th century, which is famous for its Gothic frescoes, and the Stieber waterfall on the outskirts of the village await visitors. Another highlight is the traditional Christmas market, which takes place every year during the Christmas period in St. Leonhard, the main town in the Passeier Valley, just 7 kilometres away.
In addition to its rich history, Moos in Passeier is also a winter sports paradise. Skiers and snowboarders can let off steam on the slopes of the Pfelders ski area, where cross-country skiers will also find many kilometres of trails. But many other excellent South Tyrolean ski areas are also not far away.
